The term “wounded healer” was first created by Swiss psychoanalyst Carl Jung, an idea that has its roots in Greek mythology. After being poisoned with an incurable wound by one of Hercules’s arrows, Chiron the immortal centaur, roamed the earth and continued to heal the wounded and sickly. The work represents not only the idea of nature as the wounded healer, but also refers to our own individual wounding that gives the measure of our power to heal.
